Orland Park: The Windy City Magic eighth-grade boys basketball travel team will hold tryouts for the 2013-14 season from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 16 at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St. Information: www.windycitymagic.org.

Mokena: The Mokena Park District is offering a Princess Pom and Cheer program on Tuesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 15 at the Recreation Program Center, 10925 W. LaPorte Road. Classes will meet from 11 to 11:45 a.m. or 12:15 to 1 p.m. The group is open to girls ages 4 to 6. Fees: (if registered by Sept. 3) $55 resident, $60 nonresident. Mokena: The Mokena Park District will hold an NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Main Park, 10925 W. LaPorte Road. The event is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 13 and is free, but you must register by Friday. The top scorer from each division will advance to Sectional competition in October. Tinley Park: United Southland Lacrosse will hold tryouts for their elite fall/winter teams from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St. Southland will field teams at the 11U, 13U and 15U levels. Tinley Park: GILLS Swim Club will hold registration for the winter season, open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted. Mokena: The Mokena Park District will host four adult indoor coed volleyball leagues in the fall, beginning Sept. 9. The A-League (competitive) will play on Monday nights, the B-League (upper-intermediate) and C-League (lower-intermediate) on Tuesday nights and the D-League (recreational) on Wednesday nights. Matches will be played from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 W. LaPorte Road. Team rosters must consist of between six and 12 players.
