DCFS investigating baby sitter in death of Oak Forest girl, 7

Updated: November 5, 2013 6:37AM

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating Wednesday’s death of a 7-year-old Oak Forest girl, a DCFS spokeswoman said.

Bailee Zaker, of the 15000 block of Aspen Court, was found unresponsive at home and was taken to Palos Community Hospital, where she died at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

DCFS is investigating the girl’s baby sitter, agency spokeswoman Karen Hawkins said. Bailee’s only sibling has been placed with a relative under a DCFS-monitored safety plan.

The agency had no prior reports involving the family, Hawkins said.

An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive, with results pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Oak Forest police did not immediately return a call for comment.
