Mortgage relief workshop comes to Orland

Orland Park will host the Illinois Mortgage Relief Project from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave.
The free workshop will include information about mortgage refinancing, foreclosure prevention, legal rights, credit counseling and how to avoid scam artists. Homeowners may also receive private, one-on-one housing counseling.
Attendees should bring their latest mortgage documents, including all bills, statements and notices. They should bring their two most recent pay stubs and their driver’s licenses or state identification cards. Marathon, Fleadh get marketing grants
The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau said Monday it has awarded more than $10,000 in marketing grants for upcoming events.
Palos Heights received $6,837 for promotional materials for the First Midwest Bank Southwest Half Marathon, which will be held May 6, while Oak Forest received $3,259 for the Oak Forest Fleadh. Oak Forest will use the money to help pay for magazine ads and a billboard promoting the March 10 event.
