Shepard speech wins most gold at SSC

The Shepard High School speech team won the most first-place medals recently at the South Suburban Conference tournament. Shepard speech team members won five of the 14 competitive categories.
Champions included Anna Jureviciute in dramatic interpretation; Donny Stewart in prose reading; Glorielle Williams in poetry reading; Kenny Garner and Amy Quinlan in dramatic duet acting; and Samm Hilger in humorous interpretation.
Hilger also won second place in original comedy, and Jureviciute took third in oratorical declamation. Shepard placed eight other students in the top six of their categories.
Other highlights this season have included championships at the Reavis Ram Yam and Huntley Fall Fest; second place (among 30 schools) at the Conant High School invitational; and second at the Marian Catholic tournament.
