With parents, friends and fellow performers watching, hundreds of District 218 students shared the spotlight recently at the third annual Arts Extravaganza at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island.
Jazz bands, show choirs, dance teams, improvisational theater companies, speech teams and Group Interpretation casts performed for three hours. Culinary arts students prepared and served food.
Aside from celebrating a year’s worth of rehearsals, artistic expression and competition, the event supports the educational dreams of students and professional aspirations of teachers. Sponsored by the district’s educational foundation, the event also funds college scholarships and teacher grants for innovative classroom projects.
