Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., recently unveiled a new floor plan for the atrium and lobby area.

Library officials said the improved design provides better patron service from a more functional, efficient and intimate circulation area, and showcases library-wide materials on new face-out shelving that allows patrons to browse and explore various genres and authors.

Features of this new space include an open floor plan in the lobby that highlights inter-departmental displays of new items, an extensive new fiction section and a centerpiece feature wall shelving unit that will exhibit themed items from throughout the library.

The new features also include two new display centers in the lobby/hallway on the southeast side of the first floor — one for juvenile graphic novels and the other for new audiovisual items.

New features also include a new, smaller circulation desk with an oval shape that frees up floor space for display units and seating and allows for more efficient customer service for checkout of library materials.
