SOUTHLAND
Local girls to compete in Miss Pre-Teen pageant
Several area girls will compete in the 2012 Miss Pre-Teen Chicago pageant competition in June.
Participants will include Rhiana Winston, of Oak Lawn; Kelsey Carpenter, of Chicago’s Mount Greenwood community; Chantel Williams, of Richton Park; Vanessa Mclntyre-Zager, of Orland Hills; and Jaidan Gilmore, of Evergreen Park.
All of the girls submitted an application and took part in an interview session in order to participate.
The winner will receive thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts and will represent Chicago and the surrounding communities at the National Competition in Orlando, Fla.
WORTH
McElroy to host book signing
Worth Public Library, 6917 W. 111th St., will hold a book talk and signing by Worth Historical Museum curator Colleen McElroy at 1 p.m. Saturday.
McElroy wrote a book about the Village of Worth. The event is part of the library’s Images of America series. Registration is required.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS
Habitat for Humanity to host garage sale
The Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs ReStore, 180 W. Joe Orr Road, Chicago Heights, will host a Spring Cleaning garage sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Vendor spaces are available for $35.
