LOCKPORT

Park district to host Navy Pier trip

The Lockport Township Park District will host a trip to Navy Pier for students ages 10 to 16 from from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The trip will depart from the administration building, 1911 S. Lawrence Ave., Lockport.

The trip includes a Shoreline Sightseeing Cruise. Tickets are $25 per resident or $30 per nonresident. Registration is required.

OAK FOREST

Interior design program

Acorn Public Library, 15624 S. Central Ave., Oak Forest, will host a “Redesigning Space” interior decorating class at noon Saturday.

Palos Park interior stylist Julea Joseph will offer advice on how to redesign your home and yard for the summer months.

OAK LAWN

Learn to make salad recipes

Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., will host a program on preparing salads at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Chef Kate Bradley will review five salad recipes, including asparagus/tomato salad, tuna and white bean salad, prosciutto salad, southwest chicken salad and Cobb salad.

The event costs $5, and registration is required. Food samples will be provided.

HOMEWOOD

Prehistoric ruins lectre

The South Suburban Archaeological Society will present an illustrated lecture by Mary F. McVicker titled “In the Eye of the Beholder: The Prehistoric Ruins of Mexico” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Irwin Community Center, 18120 S. Highland Ave., Homewood.

McVicker is an art historian, author and educator.
