About 119,000 ComEd customers were without power Saturday night after strong thunderstorms passed through the Chicago area earlier in the day.

ComEd spokeswoman Krissy Posey said as of 9 p.m. 119,000 customers are currently without power with the hardest hit areas being Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Lansing with 69,000 customers in the dark in the southern region.

About 18,000 are without power in the Chicago area, which includes surrounding suburbs such as Maywood and Oak Park, Posey said. About 9,000 customers are without power in the northern region, which includes Evanston and other northern suburbs. About 22,000 customers are without power in the western region, which includes areas west of Route 59.

There is no estimated time that power will be restored but crews are on the scene, Posey said.
