The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation from Standard Bank.
The donation will support the Standard Bank and Trust Co. Scholarship Fund, which provides annual scholarships to graduating students from Brother Rice, Leo, Marist and Mount Carmel high schools. Scholarship recipients can apply the funds toward tuition, fees and books at Moraine Valley during the fall and spring semesters.
“We are so pleased to be able to offer the Standard Bank and Trust Co. Scholarship to Moraine Valley students,” said Sue Linn, executive director of the foundation. “The Moraine Valley Foundation has awarded more than $70,000 in student scholarships for the upcoming school year, and this gift will help even more students.”
The first Standard Bank and Trust Scholarship was awarded to Palos Heights resident Vince Cavallone, a Brother Rice graduate who is studying criminal justice.
The Moraine Valley Foundation provides philanthropic financial support for the college and its students. Through fundraising events and donor gifts the foundation helps support numerous student scholarships, academic programs, Fine and Performing Arts Center programming, capital improvements to the campus, technology enhancements and other special initiatives, school officials said.
