Longtime St. Germaine pastor dies at 83

The Rev. William Goedert, pastor emeritus of St. Germaine Church in Oak Lawn and former administrator in Archdiocese of Chicago schools and seminaries, died Friday. He was 83.
Visitation is until 9 p.m. Monday at St. Germaine, 9711 S. Kolin Ave.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
Goedert, who was ordained in 1955, served his first three years as assistant pastor at Holy Name Cathedral, then began a career as a school and seminary administrator. He served as pastor at the Oak Lawn parish from 1977 until his retirement in 1995.
