The media center at Oak Lawn Community High School recently hosted its inaugural Summer Reading Celebration for all freshmen.
The celebration was the fun culmination of the school’s summer reading project in which incoming freshmen were asked to read either “Tears of a Tiger” by Sharon Draper or “Breathing Underwater” by Alex Flinn.
At the celebration, more than 20 freshmen colored book covers, performed plot skits with props and recommended good books to other interested readers. The event also featured pizza, raffle prizes and more.
