More than 1,000 people watched political commentators Donna Brazile and Mary Matalin square off recently at St. Xavier University during the school’s Voices and Visions speaker series.
Brazile is a veteran Democratic political strategist and commentator, as well as an adjunct professor, author and syndicated columnist. Matalin is a conservative author, television and radio host, and political pundit.
Though Brazile and Matalin are good friends, that didn’t stop them from clashing on major issues shaping the American political landscape.
Their discussion focused on their predictions for the Nov. 6 election, the state of the economy, modern voter demographics, the effects of the Citizens United Supreme Court case and more.
The event also included a classroom question-and-answer session for SXU students, as well as exclusive post-lecture wine and cheese reception with the speakers.
The Voices and Visions speaker series is sponsored by University Relations and in part by the Student Government Association.
