Nearly 15 students from Richards High School recently qualified for induction into French National Honor Society.
Criteria for earning selection to the organization cover many areas. Academically, students must maintain a minimum 92 percent cumulative average in French classes and a minimum 83 percent cumulative semester average in all classes.
Selection to French NHS also requires service to others. During the academic year, all members must participate in at least one service activity associated with their language of study.
Service activities may include tutoring peers; tutoring a student enrolled in the English Language Learner program (for non-native English-speaking students); assisting teachers in preparing for the International Film Festival, the eighth-grade open house, the French NHS induction ceremony or other events.
French NHS also requires students to participate in language activities. These include completing a language course or an independent study project involving French.
Students qualifying for French NHS included Hadeel Altaher, Nyssa Amato, Gervacio Cabel, Jeanine Cyze, Francisco DeLoera, Lydia Fitting, Peter Gavrilos, Vanessa Huerta, Fabian Martinez, Jasmine Ortega and Hiba Rashed.
