Greetings fellow Oak Lawnians.

Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with a Secret Service elf and two elfettes, made an early visit to Oak Lawn’s Village Green on Nov. 24.

They arrived by fire truck to a line of parents and children waiting at the beautifully decorated gazebo. After a quick hello to the crowd, Santa settled into his oversized chair and got down to the business of visiting with children, asking for their wish lists and posing for pictures.

Mrs. Claus handed out candy canes while children waited for their one-on-one time with Santa. Kolmar and Sward Elementary School choirs entertained with Christmas carols.

Unlike last year, the weather was dry, allowing families to enjoy horse-drawn rides, the mini-polar express ride, mini-jet riders, the fun slide, turkey bowling, inflatables, flip-a-penguin and ring the reindeer. Frosty the Snowman, Snow White and two stilt walkers visited with children.

This year’s event was another memory maker thanks to its sponsors, village staff and volunteers.

If you haven’t done so yet, be sure to visit the Village Green to enjoy the holiday light display.
