Cook County School District 130 in Blue Island and Palos Heights School District 128 each recently received $50,000 in state assistance for repairs and maintenance.
“The additional funds given to these school districts will help with maintenance projects and repairs that would not have been possible without these grants,” said State Sen. Emil Jones III.
The grants will help schools with repairs and improvements to existing buildings and facilities, grant officials said. The dollars can be used to pay for asbestos removal, repairing bleachers, re-sealing parking lots, or an array of other maintenance projects.
This is a matching grant program, with the maximum state award being $50,000, grant officials said.
