Students at Liberty Junior High School in Burbank recently celebrated Red Ribbon and Character Counts Week. Red Ribbon Week raises awareness against drugs, and Character Counts Week helps builds character, school official said.
This year the theme was “Together We Stand to be Drug Free.”
Liberty teachers conducted activities in the classroom each day to reinforce the importance of being drug-free, and students would read about the history of Red Ribbon Week after morning announcements.
“Each day would represent one pillar, and I would have a student read about the Character Counts pillar of that day, and we as a student body would wear that color shirt to represent that pillar of character and what each pillar means,” dean Antigone Campobasso said.
