OLCHS names 30 students as Illinois State Scholars

Officials at Oak Lawn Community High School recently announced that 30 students have been recognized as 2013 Illinois State Scholars.
Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top 10 percent of high school seniors from 773 different high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year.
While the recognition does not include a monetary award, recipients are encouraged to cite the honor on applications for college admission and scholarships in addition to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to determine eligibility for federal and state aid, including Illinois’ $240 million need-based Monetary Award Program.
Scholars include Samuel Bernier, Cathal Burke, Joseph Cartolano, Kyle Cheng, Nicholas Contino, Kathleen Cortes, Jessica Cosenza, Nicholas Demas and Sean Dunne.
Other scholars include Jamie Evtuch, Zachary Frazier, Nathaly Gal, Dominik Gorecki, Miranda Gray, Lorenzo Gudino , Rana Hamad, Jenna Hurckes and Omar Jaber.
Scholars also include Marcin Krzysiak, Ronald Luce, Thomas Mallon, John Morgan, Connor Niemiec, Jeries Nino, Barbara Pajor, Carley Psik, Christine Richter, Isabella Sanchez, Yusra Sarhan and Jessica Schlesser.
