The Oak Lawn Park District recently announced that commissioner and board secretary Donald Andersen has been appointed chairman of the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ board of trustees.
Andersen has been commissioner of the Oak Lawn Park District since 1977 and has served six terms as president. He is one of the founding members of the Oak Lawn Parks Foundation, serving as vice chairman for the past eight years.
Andersen also served as a commissioner on the Planning and Development board for Oak Lawn for more than 30 years. He also serves on several committees and on the Joint Coordinating Council.
“The staff at the Oak Lawn Park District appreciates all the work Don does for the agency and for the parks and recreation field,” park district officials said in a news release.
