Moraine offers array of noncredit classes

Updated: April 18, 2013 6:04AM

Moraine Valley Community College is offering several noncredit courses in a variety of subjects beginning this month.

Topics range from art to history to home decorating. Dates, times and class fees can be found in the spring class schedule or on the college’s website.

Design decorative items — such as flower pots and steppingstones — in Creating Stained Glass Mosaics. Or make capris or pants with your sewing machine in Sewing II. For more activity, sign up for Belly Dancing and learn basic movements, including veil techniques and routines. Experience a clear mind and focus during Learn to Meditate.

The Basic Timesharing class will provide information about buying, using, exchanging and selling timeshares. Students will receive resources to find a desired timeshare and avoid scams when selling a timeshare.

Like history? Examine the Korean War in the Cold War context in Korea: the Forgotten War, or the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, conspiracy theories and the Warren Commission Report in Conspiracy.

Discover the development of and impact Pullman had on American history in The Rise, Fall and Rebirth of Pullman, while Rock ‘n’ Roll: A History investigates the development of the music genre between 1950 and 1975.

Breathe new life into the home this spring. Learn to draw floor plans, create a budget and choose materials, finishes and accessories in Do It Yourself Design.

Lift landscape design off the ground onto decks, patios, terraces, and balconies in the Container Gardens class. Garden Smart will teach students how to design the front of their home for curb appeal and to stage their back yard for beauty and function.

Fill the landscape with more annuals and perennials in the Propagating Plants from Cuttings workshop. Spring Garden Cleanup outlines the things you need to know to “open” your garden for the season.
