AT&T, union come to terms on contract
AT&T said Tuesday it has reached a tentative contract agreement with workers represented by Local 21 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The local represents nearly 6,500 AT&T employees in the Chicago area and northwest Indiana.
The company and union agreed last month to start contract negotiations early. The current contract expires June 22.
If the contract is ratified by the union by May 7, a ratification bonus of $1,000 will be paid to each eligible employee, AT&T said in a news release. The four-year agreement includes wage increases of 2.25 percent the first year, 2.5 percent in the second, 2.75 percent in the third and 3 percent in the final year, the company said.
