Bansley inducted into honor society
Brian Bansley, of Chicago’s Beverly community, was inducted into the Brother J. Richard Rush chapter of the National Honor Society at the De La Salle Institute in Chicago.
Oak Lawn students earn honors
Oak Lawn Community High School named Students of the First Quarter. They include:
Natasha Pratscher for art, Kali Graziano for business education, Nathan Reeves, for science, Natalia Gawelda for social science, Wilving DelValle for mathematics, Cody McElheny for industrial technology, Kara Melvin for foreign language, Yusra Sarhan for English, Brendan DuVall for family and consumer science and Mandy Masters for physical education.
Student wins poetry contest
Travionne Shipps won the Indian Springs School District 109 and the Justice Public Library poetry night. He is a sixth-grader at Wilkins Elementary School in Justice. His poem was “Stay Drug Free.”
Students receive art awards
Nicole Shepherd, of Reavis High School in Burbank, received a “Best in Show” award at the Regional High School Art Exhibit hosted by South Suburban College in South Holland.
Zarnowski earns Evans scholarship for Marquette
Andrew Zarnowski, of Chicago Ridge, received a Chick Evans Scholarship and will be attending Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Zarnowski is a senior at St. Laurence High School in Burbank.
