District 117 bands score high on teamwork

North Palos District 117 band students are closing out the competition season on a high note.
Conrady Junior High School seventh- and eighth-grade bands won the Illinois Grade School Band Festival.
The Symphonic Band played “The Torch of Liberty March,” “Yorkshire Ballad” and “Fiero,” among other selections.
The Concert Band played “National Emblem March,” “Firebird” and “Pevensey Castle.”
North Palos District 117’s fifth- and sixth- grade bands took first place at the Band-O-Rama competition.
The fifth-grade Beginner Band, and the sixth-grade Jaguar Band received the “Esprit de Corp” trophy, an award given to the group displaying the best behavior and attention during the competition.
The Jaguar Band played pieces that included “Valdres March,” “Theme from Jupiter” and “Forge of Vulcan.” The Beginner Band played “Crusaders March,” “Beethoven’s Ninth” and “Magma.”
The Symphonic, Concert, and Jaguar bands are under the direction of Sue Clemons and the Beginner Band is under the direction of Bob Pastore.
