The chief operating officer for ProMedica Heart and Vascular Institutes in Toledo, Ohio, has been appointed chief operating officer for Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Michael D. Wilkins, who has served in health-related leadership positions since the mid-1990s, replaces Dominica Tallarico, who was named president of Advocate Condell Hospital in 2012.
Wilkins takes charge of operations for an organization in the midst of significant growth.
Work on a nine-story outpatient pavilion is more than 50 percent complete and is part of the medical center’s $650 million expansion program. Planning for the building’s opening in the first quarter of 2014 already has begun, officials said. At the same time, preparations have been advancing for the start of construction of a seven-story hospital bed tower.
Advocate Health Care, including Christ Medical Center, is moving toward the new hospital accreditation process — one that emphasizes consistency, customer service and quality improvement through the integration of the ISO 9001 quality management system.
