Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens received a Dr Pepper Snapple Group Keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bin Grant award.
In an effort to help parks create convenient recycling opportunities for visitors, Dr Pepper Snapple Group committed to a one-year collaboration with Keep America Beautiful to fund the placement of recycling bins at parks throughout the country.
Tim Gratto, vice president of sustainability for Dr Pepper, said, “The grant program makes recycling easier and more accessible for consumers in their favorite public spaces while also aiding efforts to reduce litter.”
Thirty-five grants were awarded to local and state governments in 22 states. Lake Katherine received a dozen outdoor recycling bins that will be placed near the parking lot and buildings and around the lake and trails.
“We are happy to finally be able to provide the public the opportunity to recycle responsibly when they visit Lake Katherine,” Gareth Blakesley, Lake Katherine’s operations manager, said.
