Center plans program with addiction recovery authors

Updated: October 9, 2013 6:07AM

The Center staff members Michael Wiggins and Mark Walker will discuss their recently published book, “Slogans and Solutions,” at a luncheon program from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park.

The book is about sayings often heard at 12-step meetings and the limitations of the usefulness of oft-repeated slogans such as “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” “One day at a time” and “To keep it, you have to give it away.”

Walker and Wiggins agree that recovery involves hard work and gratitude, and both talk openly about the journey of recovery from addiction, according to a center spokesman.

The cost is $17 per person. Advance reservations are required.
