BASEBALL

Oak Lawn: Registration is open for Oak Lawn Baseball’s 2013 fall season, which runs from Sept. 14 to Oct. 20 and is open to boys ages 8 to 14. Register online at www.oaklawnbaseball.com.

Palos Heights: The Palos Stampede 12U team is looking to fill its roster for a squad that is Cooperstown-bound in July 2014. Players must be 12 years old on May 1, 2014. Information: Dan Szykowny, (708) 906-7148 or email dannyszy@yahoo.com.

BASKETBALL

Oak Lawn: Richards High School and boys basketball coach John Chappetto will host a boys mini camp, open to boys in grades three to eight, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 to 30. Fee: $40. Information: John Chappetto, (708) 499-2550, Ext. 5340.

Palos Hills: The Southside Shooters girls basketball team will start its fall session, “skills and scrimmages” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stagg High School. Southland: The Windy City Magic eighth-grade boys basketball travel team will hold tryouts for the 2013-14 season from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 16 at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St. Information: www.windycitymagic.org.

FISHING

Southland: Unique Bassmasters, Rayjus Outdoors and the Oak Lawn High School Spartan fishing team and its sponsors will host the Rayjus Outdoors-Oak Lawn Community High School Bass Tournament on the Kankakee/Des Plaines River on Oct. 12. POMS

Oak Lawn: The Bear-ettes poms and Twirling Bears baton programs of Midlothian and Oak Lawn will hold registration for pom, hip-hop, flag and baton classes, for ages 6 and up, from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Midlothian Park District. Information: (630) 324-6421.

SWIMMING

Oak Lawn: Richards Area Swim Club will host free tryouts for the fall/winter season at 6 p.m. Monday at Richards High School, 107th Street and Central Avenue. The club is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted. Please bring a swimsuit, goggles, towel and swim cap (if you have long hair).
