What is your prized possession?

“I’d have to say my family. I have 12 children, 39 grandchildren, and going on 24 great-grandchildren. They’re so many, and they are so healthy. I did lose my sixth child, Jack, two years ago.”

What are your hobbies?

“Sewing and bingo. I’ve sewed since I was a kid. I sewed my kids’ clothes, and I’ve sewed for my grandkids. Now I sew for gifts. It’s relaxing. Bingo can be profitable. I’m alone, the kids are grown, so I go to bingo.”

What do you like about living in Oak Lawn?

“I’ve lived here since 1934, I grew up here and I love it here. I’ve enjoyed watching the town grow.”

What would you do if you were mayor?

“I wouldn’t want to be mayor. I don’t mind the work. I don’t like politics. ”

Which person from history do you want to meet?

“Anybody? I’ve never thought about that. I’d say my brother, Harold Williams. He went to Calumet High School and Valparaiso University and then he went to California and worked on missiles. He still gives speeches and runs a publication from his home.
