MVCC hosts fall performing arts events

The Moraine Valley Fine & Performing Arts Center’s fall schedule of events soon will be underway.

The Jonah Ortiz Art Exhibition, “Repetition: Kinetics and Castings,” will be on view from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Oct. 10 at the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery.

Ortiz is a Chicago-based artist who creates kinetic sculptures with discarded childhood toys.

Admission is $25 per person; $20 for students and senior citizens.

MOMIX will perform Botanica at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Dorothy Menker Theater. MOMIX performers will use costumes, projections and custom-made props and puppetry for the performance. Tickets are $25 per person or $20 for students and senior citizens.

John and Angeline will perform for the Jazz Faculty Showcase at 3 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Oremus Theater. Admission is free.

Featured performers are Douglass Bratt, drum set; Tim Burns, guitar; James Davis, trumpet; Kevin Fort, piano; Brien O’Callaghan, bass; and Mai Sugimoto, saxophone.

The Moraine Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform “The Great American Songbook” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Dorothy Menker Theater. Admission is $12 per person or $10 for students and senior citizens.

The Matthew Litteken Art Exhibition, “Ten Objects of Veneration,” will be on view from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct 14 through Nov. 15 at the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery.

An artist’s reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 17.
