The annual Monarch Butterfly Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens, 7402 W. Lake Katherine Drive, Palos Heights, according to a news release from the center.
The event offers activities for all ages, such as a butterfly tent, hayrides, children’s games, animal exhibits, a rock-climbing wall, arts and crafts fair, educational displays, live music stage and food vendors, the release said.
Canoe and kayak rentals will be available throughout the day, and attendees can build a scarecrow for a $10 donation.
Admission is $5 per person. Children 3 and under are free. Visitors can park in the Palos Heights City Hall parking lot, 7607 W. College Drive, and take the free shuttle to Lake Katherine.
