The Bridgeview Public Library will host a series of events in October, from movies to book discussions and more, according to a release from the library.
Movies will be shown at 1 p.m. Mondays. There will be free popcorn, and visitors may bring their own soft drinks. Snacks and beverages also will be available from vending machines.
A new program, “Take a Chance,” features a new-release “mystery” movie that will be shown the second Tuesday of every month, including Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. The title will not be disclosed until patrons arrive, but clues will be left during the prior weeks so patrons can guess the title. Those who guess correctly will win a free movie rental. The movies will be geared for adults but only G, PG or PG-13 movies will be shown.
The book clubs will discuss “150 Pounds: A Novel of Waists and Measures,” by Kate Rockland. Copies will be available at the library after Sept. 23. Book club sessions are at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 25. Light refreshments will be served.
Delicious Creations will visit at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 with cupcakes and demonstrations on how to make them. Spots should be reserved early. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, with a limit of two children per adult.
Walgreens will administer flu shots from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 and 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17. The shots are not free, so patrons should bring insurance information. Children over 12 can get shots with proper documentation and a parent present. To sign up, call the library or call Walgreens directly at (708) 496-7806.
To register or get more information about these programs, call the library at (708) 458-2880, Ext. 105; stop at the reference desk at the library, 7840 W. 79th St., Bridgeview; or visit bridgeviewlibrary.org.
The library will be closed Oct. 14 for Columbus Day.
