Fall classes scheduled at The Center in Palos Park

Six-week sessions of lapidary, silver jewelry and calligraphy classes are being offered at the Log Cabin Center for the Arts, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park.
Oct. 28 classes include a calligraphy class taught by Marge Boyd at 1 p.m.; two silver jewelry classes taught by Dan Boyd; a class for intermediate to advanced silver jewelry students at 2 p.m.; and a class in setting polished gemstones into sterling silver pendants at 6:30 p.m.
A gentle yoga class by Valerie Lindstrom will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for five Tuesdays beginning Oct. 22 at the Anderson Activity Center of the Children’s Farm. The sessions will include discussion and practice on breathing, relaxation, centering, movement and poses. Yoga newcomers are welcome. Students should dress in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat and water bottle. The five-week class costs $50.
A Sunday morning outdoor family service led by the Rev. Chris Hopkins will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at The Center.
A luncheon program on the health benefits of stretching, led by movement therapist Jan Sylkatis, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 22. The noon presentation will be followed by a 1 p.m. luncheon. The cost is $17 per person and requires advance registration.
A nature photography workshop for adults, led by Rick Steffen, will be held the morning of Oct. 26 at The Center. Students should bring either a film or a digital camera and dress for the outdoors. The class fee is $15.
