The Southwest Community Concert Band will hold a performance of Broadway Show Tunes at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Sandburg High School auditorium, 13300 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park.

Under the direction of Ray Forlenza, the concert will feature songs made famous on the Broadway stage over the last century. Selections will include Gershwin’s “Porgy & Bess,” “The King & I” and “The Music Man,” and Andrew Lloyd Webber selections from “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Phantom of the Opera.”

Other medleys from “Wicked,” “Evita” and more will be performed.

The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Orland Park, also will honor the late Bill Opelka, a talented musician and supporter of the arts who was a former member of the Rotary Club and a civic leader. He was the ambassador to the McCord Gallery & Cultural Center, representing the organization throughout the southwest suburbs.

Tickets are $35. Visit www.d230foundation.org or call (708) 671-0648 to buy tickets.

All proceeds will go to the McCord Gallery & Cultural Center and the District 230 Foundation to benefit Andrew, Sandburg and Stagg high schools.
