St. Xavier University’s School of Nursing will offer a 15-month accelerated bachelor of science in nursing option, beginning in May 2014, according to a press release from the university.
The program will allow students with baccalaureate degrees to move through the pre-licensure program in a reduced time frame.
Students will begin nursing coursework each May and complete the full-time program in 15 months. Prerequisite courses may be completed in advance at SXU prior to the May start.
Qualified applicants for the accelerated option must possess an earned baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, which includes all prerequisite coursework.
“This new accelerated option offers everything our students need to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century health care environment with the added advantage of a shorter time frame,” School of Nursing dean Gloria Jacobson said.
