What are your hobbies?
“I like to sew and read. I sew Halloween costumes for the grandkids, and I do some mending for them. I like to read mysteries and crime novels. I’m reading a John Grisham novel right now. I do volunteer work at Neat Repeats, so we read everything that comes through there.”
What’s your prized possession?
“My family. My husband and I have three children and three grandchildren. We’ve been married for 43 years. Family is very important to me.”
What was the last movie you saw?
“It was at the theater with a girlfriend, ‘Enough Said’ with James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It was his last movie. It was very touching. He was terrific. It was a nice little love story. He’s not like his ‘Sopranos’ character.”
What would you do if you were mayor for a day?
“I’d take better care of the senior citizens. They’re getting bounced around lately with the new seniors center. And I’d try to get more businesses in Oak Lawn. There’s a lot of empty storefronts.”
Which person from history do you want to meet?
“Amelia Earhart. She was a woman ahead of her time and she accomplished a lot. I really want to know what happened to her. I’d ask her what went wrong. She’s not someone who’d make a foolish mistake by going off course. Was she spying? Did somebody shoot her down? Was there a malfunction with the plane?”
