What are your hobbies?
“Trains and racing. My brother used to race a midget car. I like Indy cars. My sons like NASCAR. I’ve liked trains since I was a kid. My father had a Lionel layout in the basement. Now my brother has one in his house.”
What is your prized possession?
“My two boys. Matthew is 12 and Ben is 9. I like spending time with them. They like what I like. We go to train shows all over the place, Milwaukee, at Lyons Township High School, and out in DuPage County. We go to the train museum in Elkhart, Ind., every year.”
What’s the last movie you saw?
“It was that baseball movie, ‘A League of Their Own,’ starring Madonna. I like that movie. It’s funny. They filmed the train scenes up in Union.”
What do you like about Worth?
“It’s a nice, quiet, little town. I grew up there, lived there my entire life, my parents built a house there. It’s just comfortable. You get used to living there.”
Which person from history do you want to meet?
“Henry Ford. He had a lot of ideas. Sometimes they didn’t quite work out. I’d ask him if he was disappointed that his vision wasn’t realized. He wanted a workers’ utopia. But he was kind of stuck in his ways. I’d ask if he thought that impeded his growth.”
