Fall on the Green brought more than smiles to youngsters who attended the annual event in Oak Lawn earlier this year. It also brought in a large donation to Park Lawn, the Oak Lawn agency that helps developmentally disabled people.
Village Trustee Tim Desmond (1st) recently presented Park Lawn officials with a check for $19,163.97, donated money raised for the organization during the Fall on the Green fest.
“They wish to live a normal life,” Desmond said of Park Lawn clients. “They want to go to school, own a job that truly needs to be done, a place to live comfortably, and a full and active social life.
“Park Lawn provides training, vocational services, support, residential and recreational opportunities,” Desmond said during the presentation of the oversized check.
Park Lawn executive director Jim Weise thanked the village “on behalf of our organization and the families of the individuals whose lives we touch.
“In these times, we definitely appreciate the money, because it goes to provide the services to those in need, but also, with Fall on the Green, we have contact with so many wonderful individuals. It’s a wonderful reaffirmation of the pride we have serving the community,” Weise said.
Several Park Lawn clients attended the meeting, holding a banner that read “Thank You Oak Lawn!”
“We thank you ever so much,” Weise said.
