Richards speech team wins 35-team tournament

The speech team from Richards High School recently continued its early-season success, winning the championship at the 35-team Santaburg Oaklaus tournament co-hosted by Sandburg and Oak Lawn high schools.
It was a complete team effort, according to a press release from Community High School District 218, with Richards claiming three individual titles and three runner-up finishes.
Medalists for Richards included:
First place: Eda Guven, Original Oratory; Michael McCarthy, Prose Reading; Peter Forberg, Impromptu Speaking.
Second place: Michael McCarthy, Humorous Interpretation; Roxanne Segina, Special Occasion Speaking; Teris Taylor, Original Oratory.
Third place: Kiersten Bergquist, Oratorical Declamation.
Fourth place: Celina Clifton, Poetry Reading; Gabby Bandera, Humorous Interpretation; Teris Taylor, Informative Speaking.
Sixth place: Deja Whitt, Prose Reading; Katie Nestor, Radio Speaking.
Finalist: Alec Rigik, Original Comedy.
