State of the Village address slated for Feb. 11
The Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce will host its fourth annual State of the Village address at a Feb. 11 luncheon at the Hilton Oak Lawn, 9333 S. Cicero Ave.
Mayor Sandra Bury will address issues such as the village infrastructure, taxes and short- and long-terms plans, organizers said in a press release.
Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon and the State of the Village presentation at 12:15 p.m.

Park district registration on deck
The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a wide range of programs, special events, trips, camps, leagues and more for all ages, according to a release from the district.
A spring program guide with detailed information on services was expected to be delivered to residents this week.
Registration is to begin Feb. 10 for residents and Feb. 24 for nonresidents. Registrations will be accepted at all facilities except Stony Creek, 5850 W. 103rd St., and the administrative building at 9400 S. Kenton Ave.

Blood drive Friday
Each year, LifeSource offers area high schools the chance to earn valuable scholarship money, and Oak Lawn Community High School has earned the money for the past five years, according to a press release from the school.
Schools who wish to participate must host at least two blood drives per year, and parents and community members also can have their donations credited to Oak Lawn High School by providing the donor code of OL94, the release said.
The school, at 9400 Southwest Highway, will host its next blood drive Jan. 31 in the Spartan Gym.
Students are encouraged to donate blood during their gym period, the release said. Students must be at least 16, and a parent permission slip is required for students who are only 16, the release said.
Individuals are eligible to donate blood every 56 days, according to the release. To find a donor center, visit www.lifesource.org.
College financial aid workshop Feb. 5
A college financial aid workshop is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 5 in the media center at Oak Lawn Community High School, 9400 Southwest Highway.
Seniors who plan to attend a college in the fall of 2014, or juniors who will graduate in January 2015 should fill out the 2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Oak Lawn counselors and volunteers from the Illinois Assistance Commission will provide hands-on assistance in filling out this information.
Participants should bring the following information for both the parent and student: 2013 tax forms and W-2s, any information on untaxed income (such as Social Security, disability, etc.), current bank statements, Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, records of businesses and farms, assets (stocks and bonds), PIN numbers (obtained at www.pin.ed.gov) and a calculator.
