The Knights of Columbus Council No. 14553 held their inaugural Free Throw Championship on Jan. 19 in St. Germaine’s Activity Center in Oak Lawn.
Boys and girls ages 9 to 14 were eligible to take part, each getting to shoot 15 free throws. Trophies were presented to first-, second- and third-place finishers in each age group for both boys and girls.
The winners also shot 25 free throws, hoping to advance to regionals and eventually state.
The winners in the age 10 category were Benjamin Zulevic and Alysse Urbaniak; age 11 winners were Evan Gonzalez and Hannah Novak; the age 12 winners were Christopher Dunne and Hannah Swiatek; and Luke Swiatek won among 13-year-old boys.
