Monica Rodriguez, 30, Oak Lawn
What are your hobbies?
“I love painting my nails. It calms me and I try to change the color every other day. And we play in a pool league at Jesse’s (Tavern) in Chicago Ridge every Tuesday night. Oh, I have a new pup, too, a Lhaso Apso. He’s 5 months old.”
What’s the last movie you saw?
“It was ‘The Day After Tomorrow.’ I like it. I’ve seen it many times before. I’m one of those people who can rewatch a movie. It’s a good story.”
What do you like about living in Oak Lawn?
“I like the people here. I know a lot of the people. I graduated from Oak Lawn (Community) High School in 2001. We live in the house my boyfriend grew up in. It’s a nice little town. I plan on staying here a very long time.”
What would you do if you were mayor for a day?
“I am fixing any and all red lights that do not run well. There are a few that need longer green lights and turning arrows. I’d take down some of the red-light cameras. Come on. And I’d make sure they plow my street because I’m in the forgotten part of Oak Lawn behind Chicago Ridge Mall.”
Which person from history do you want to meet?
“Audrey Hepburn. That’s a beauty right there. She was gorgeous. I liked her etiquette and she had a great fashion sense. I’d ask her what her favorite movie was and what was her favorite outfit to wear. She’s a classic.”
