It was an elegant evening, complete with a jazz combo and tasty appetizers.

The occasion: Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants was holding an open house at its new facility at 4220 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month, Oak Lawn Village Trustee Terry Vorderer said, “I was elected in April, after construction had already begun. But I did everything to facilitate the construction since. This is an investment in Oak Lawn, and we are lucky to have them.”

The state-of-the-art facility boasts open high-field MRI equipment, designed to be more comfortable for most patients, particularly those who dislike the standard MRI, in which most of the body is enclosed.

“Our MRI can go all the way down to the floor, which is convenient for patients in a wheelchair,” MRI technologist Mary Fasan said. “It’s also much more pleasant for patients with claustrophobia because most of your body is exposed. They can bring their iPods and listen to their own (music) playlist, which is great also.”

Seven doctors will treat patients there on a rotating basis.

Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants occupies the entire first floor of the building, with the interior layout resembling a horse-shoe shape, designed to improve the flow of patients from one station to another.

Dr. George Branovacki said he is excited about the facility’s proximity to Christ Medical Center, where he treats a majority of his patients. He said he sees Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants as “more patient-focused, with less wait time,” and is pleased there are “so many more X-ray machines, imaging technology and technologists.”

Dr. James Leonard said Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants “gives patients a comfortable environment. They’re coming in injured and hurt, but they can come in here and feel comfortable and receive good treatment.”

For the ceremony, entertainment was provided by The Chicago Diamond Trio, and appetizers were provided by Tommy R’s Catering in Willowbrook.
