What’s the last movie you saw?
“I guess it was ‘El Dorado’ starring John Wayne. It’s ‘The Duke.’ Robert Mitchum. James Caan, he was a kid then. Who’s the other guy? Christopher George. He was great. These guys are great in these movies. I always follow ‘The Duke.’ ”

“There’s a lot of diversity, a lot of things to do here. Golf. Swimming pools. There are some good people in this town, other than the murders that took place a few weeks ago.”
What would you do if you were mayor for a day?
“I’d probably ask why they wanted to privatize the 911 dispatchers. We had to have my mother taken to the hospital in October, and they were right there. Professional people. Absolutely. I’d ask why they changed the dispatchers.”
Which person from history do you want to meet?
“Karen Carpenter. She was a great drummer. I saw her sing at the Arie Crown (Theater). I’ve got all the albums. Her sound can’t be matched. Karen Carpenter was the greatest singer ever.”
