Berkot’s to bow in Orland

Berkot’s Super Foods will open its Orland Park store, 11333 W. 159th St., at 8 a.m. Thursday. At 40,000 square feet, it will be the largest of the grocery chain’s 13 locations.

Starting Thursday and continuing through Sunday, the first 100 customers each day will receive a free bag of groceries. There also will be other grand opening events including “Check-Out Bingo.” Every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting Thursday and continuing through Sunday, customers who are standing in the winning checkout line will receive a $10 gift card for their next Berkot’s visit. Customers will have a chance to spin a prize wheel, with prizes including appliances, electronics and movie passes.

There will also be celebrity appearances on Friday and Saturday. Former Chicago Blackhawks player Denis Savard will be at the store from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, and former Chicago Bear Richard Dent will make an appearance from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Olivieri Bros. hires project architect

Frankfort-based Olivieri Brothers Inc. said it hired David Choi as a project architect. Choi graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, the company said.
