Police on Tuesday continued to search for a Homer Glen man suspected of taking part in a carjacking Monday night in Orland Park.

A woman was taken into custody after the carjacking in the parking lot of Red Lobster, 14750 S. LaGrange Road, police said. Charges are pending against the two.

Two employees were going to their vehicles in the parking lot of Red Lobster just before midnight when a man approached one of them and threatened her with a weapon, Orland Park police Sgt. Scott Malmborg said.

The employee got out of her vehicle, leaving her purse inside, Malmborg said. A woman then came out from some bushes where she was hiding and got into the car with the man, she said.

They drove south on LaGrange Road and police began pursuing the car, which went west on 167th Street and then north onto Liberty Circle, a dead-end street, Malmborg said.

The man got out of the car and ran, leaving behind his weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun, Malmborg said. The woman was taken into custody.

The man is described as white, 23 years old, 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes, Malmborg said. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black jogging pants with a white stripe.
