D-135 names interim leader

The Orland School District 135 Board of Education has appointed Carol Kunst as interim superintendent for the 2012-13 school year.
Kunst, of Hickory Hills, has served as superintendent for Burbank School District 111 and Cook County School District 154 in Thornton. She was assistant superintendent for student services in Cicero School District 99 and has served as a principal, assistant principal and teacher in several Chicago-area districts.
Kunst has more than 30 years of experience in education. She earned a doctorate in education from Loyola University, a master’s in educational administration from Lewis University, a master’s in criminal justice from Lewis, a master’s in special education from Chicago State University, and a bachelor’s in elementary education from Lewis.
Kunst began her term as interim superintendent July 1, and her contract ends June 30, 2013. She will be eligible to apply for the non-interim superintendent position when the board resumes its search in the fall.
