Tinley Park man charged in Orland Park funeral home burglary

A Tinley Park man has been charged in the burglary of an Orland Park funeral home on Sunday.
Nicholas A. Palmera, 23, of the 16000 block of Tanbark, was charged with residential burglary, burglary, aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a firearm without a FOID card, Orland Park police said.
On Sunday, Orland Park police found what they believed was a stolen Mercedes Benz parked in Orland Hills,. Police discovered the car had been stolen from outside Lawn Funeral Home in the 7700 block of 159th Street in Orland Park.
Burglars entered the funeral home early Sunday and took a number of items from both the home and an apartment inside, including a laptop, keys to the business and keys to the car, police said.
Police found Palmera after learning about a man hoping to sell a stolen laptop, police said. They saw Palmera walking with the laptop and confirmed it was stolen from the funeral home. Police then searched Palmera’s home and found a number of items stolen from the funeral home, as well as items taken from car burglaries in neighboring suburbs. A gun was also found in his home.
Police are looking for an accomplice in the burglaries.
Palmera appeared in bond court Thursday, where bail was set at $150,000, police said. He will next appear in court on Sept. 24.
