Appliance and electronics retailer H.H. Gregg said Thursday it plans to hire about 1,000 seasonal workers at its 223 stores in preparation for the holiday shopping season. The Indianapolis-based company said it wants to have the hires in place by early October.
The company said it is accepting applications through the end of September, and seasonal workers brought on before the holidays will be offered permanent full-time and part-time sales positions. Chamber to host business conference
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce will host a small-business conference from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18501 Convention Center Drive. The day will include educational workshops, keynote speakers and vendors. Edward Wehmer, president and chief executive of Wintrust, will speak on the present state of the economic cycle and its impact on businesses.
