Free Thanksgiving Dinner: St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Parish, 7399 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Reservations are required at (708) 429-6767.
Festival of Psalms: The First Presbyterian Church of Homewood, 17929 Gottschalk Ave., is hosting a Festival of Psalms Nov. 9 to 11. The festival kicks off with a dinner followed at 7:30 p.m. by a performance of “From the Ridiculous to The Divine” by a Cincinnati theater company. Admission is free but a collection will be taken for the dinner. Workshops with lunch for first-graders to high school students and for adults are offered 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10. Cost is $10 for students and $15 for adults with a $50 cap per family. Adult workshops include “Beyond Bathrobes,” focus on drama and storytelling; “Feasting and Fasting in the Psalms,” history and baking; “Journeying Through the Psalms: Art Making as Spiritual Practice,” prayer and art projects; and “Psalm Writing.” On Nov. 11, the 10:30 a.m. worship service will focus on Psalms and at 4 p.m. there will be a Psalm Hymn Fest with a community choir and a praise band. Christkindl Market: Trinity Lutheran Church, 9701 S. Brandt Ave., Oak Lawn, will host its second annual Christkindl Market craft fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10. Fall Festival: The Ruth Society of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mokena, 10731 W. LaPorte Road, will host its Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10. The bazaar will include needlecrafts, gift items, doll clothes, holiday decorations, gift baskets and a pet corner. Baked goods, canned items and preserves, will be for sale. The program focuses on relationships between Jews and their diverse neighbors from the mid-1500 to the present.
