Hoping to keep some leadership continuity as other administrators retire, the Consolidated High School District 230 Board has extended Supt. James M. Gay’s contract by a year, through the 2016-17 school year, the district said in a news release.
Assistant Supt. Liz Johnson is to retire at the end of the 2013-14 school year, and Assistant Supt. Steve Langert plans to retire one year later, the district said.
Gay’s contract includes a salary of $190,550 for this school year, representing a 3 percent increase, the district said. The board will determine his future salary on an annual basis.
“The extension of Dr. Gay’s contract shows the school board’s commitment to his leadership and the direction he has established for the district,” board President Frank Grabowski said in the release. “The contract provides the stability and consistency in leadership that our students, staff, parents and community deserve, especially in light of the retirements of two assistant superintendents in the next two years.”
District 230 includes Sandburg, Andrew and Stagg high schools.
